  • Heat pump installers needed fast

Wales has about 31,000 heat pumps against a 580,000 target for 2035. Heat pump jobs could grow from 905 in 2025 to 5,446.

Wind and sun don't switch on when we want them to. Data, sensors and software keep the lights on and help find the best ways to heat homes.

  • Smart grid data

Networks use live data to balance power from wind and solar. SP Energy Networks recruits data and digital apprentices.

  • SCADA turbine monitoring

Technicians watch every turbine remotely on screens, spotting faults before they happen and planning repairs at sea.

  • Energy assessment software

Domestic energy assessors survey homes and use software to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

  • Climate test chambers

At Tŷ Gwyrddfai, Penygroes, Bangor University tests new retrofit tech in chambers that copy the inside and outside of a house.
